5 Tips To Utilize Business Cards

1. Business Card & House Keys Leave Together ::

Never, ever leave home without at small stack of business cards. You just never know.

2. 6 Degrees of Separation ::

When you send a birthday card, gift, thank you note, and even paying a bill – a business card should be a habit with everything (minus funerals). Hand your business card out as if the more you hand out the longer you live. This is your lifeline . . . you want to sustain yourself and handing out business cards is the first step to any branding process.

3. Business Card Etiquette ::

Business card dance is so important. You want a client. You need to network. Just because the person standing in front of you doesn’t need your services doesn’t mean that they won’t in the future or they know someone – who knows someone . . . Here is what you need to do to make an impression with a business card.

Whenever you give a business card, ask for a business card.
When you are given a business card take a few seconds and read the entire card in front of the person. Shoving it away is bad business.
After reading the card move the discussion towards information about information on THEIR business card.
As they talk pull out a pen, flip the card around and write date/time, location and a keywords from the conversation.
After you finished, put it in your pocket/wallet/business card holder . . . and tap it twice “to show you are holding precious cargo”.
The next stage is to see how well you were listening . . . ask the person to go into detail about a topic you wrote down on the back of the card.

4. The World Needs to See Your Business Card ::

Hand them out to everyone, family, friends and don’t be stingy . . . give ‘em one or two. Most individuals do not have just one office – most have a home, portable and professional office. If you hand out one card then you’re limiting your possible client to be at the right office when your services could be utilized.

5. Not Just a Name & Number ::

Put a slogan on your business card that answers the question “Why should I call you?” Or “What makes you different?’”

Pandora Launches Live Concert Video Series

Pandora, the leading personalized radio service, today announced an online extension of the free, live concert series that the company debuted earlier in the month. The Pandora live concert series hub, currently sponsored by Budweiser, can be accessed at: Pandora.

The live concert series launched in Portland, Ore. on December 13 with Dawes, an emerging rock band from Southern California. As the official launch sponsor, Budweiser presented the inaugural concert free of charge to more than 230 fans, and is now bringing the experience online via the dedicated hub.

All artists that participate in Pandora’s live concert series will be showcased on the hub. The hub currently consists of behind-the-scenes video content from the Dawes concert, including: interviews with the band and fans, the band as they tour Portland, Pandora Founder Tim Westergren interacting with the band and highlights from the evening. The hub also features a curated mixtape with up to 100 songs selected by the band and Pandora music analysts.

Senior Vice President of Strategic Solutions Heidi Browning said, “We’re very excited to have Budweiser as our official launch partner of Pandora’s personalized, live concert series. Frugal Tip: NBC and NFL Will Offer Live Streaming of Super Bowl

The Super Bowl will be streamed online and to phones for the first time, the NFL said Tuesday. NBC’s broadcasts of wild card Saturday, the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl will be available on NFL Network online, NBC Network online and through Verizon’s NFL Mobile app.

The service will include additional camera angles, in-game highlights and live stats — and replays of those always popular Super Bowl ads.

NBC has been streaming its “Sunday Night Football” telecasts for four seasons, and the network has found that it’s not just being used by fans who can’t watch on TV. Many of the page views come from people using the service as a complement to the traditional broadcast.

It certainly would seem likely that fans would do the same for Super Bowl XLVI on Feb. 5. The game is annually the biggest attraction on television by far, with last season’s Packers-Steelers matchup drawing 111 million viewers, a record U.S. audience for any show.

“Whether it’s just for a quarter if somebody has to run out to the store to get something they forgot, now they can stay connected to the game,” Hans Schroeder, the NFL’s senior vice president of media strategy and development, told The Associated Press. “With such a big television audience, it will be interesting to see the expanded reach.“

NBC’s streams on Sunday nights typically average 200,000-300,000 viewers, compared with 21 million for the telecasts. The network has seen no evidence they hurt the traditional broadcasts’ healthy TV ratings. If anything, the extra options online may help keep fans glued to the games on their sets.

“We don’t want to limit ourselves to people not in front of the TV,” said Rick Cordella, vice president and general manager for NBC Sports Digital Media.

Pete Townshend calls Apple ‘a vampire’

The Who guitarist Pete Townshend has urged Apple’s iTunes to use its power to help new bands instead of “bleeding” artists like a “digital vampire”.

He also argued against unauthorized file-sharing, saying the internet was “destroying copyright as we know it . . . . The word ‘sharing’ surely means giving away something you have earned, or made, or paid for?” and added that people who downloaded his music without paying for it “may as well come and steal my son’s bike while they’re at it . . . If someone “pretends that something I have created should be available to them free… I wonder what has gone wrong with human morality and social justice”.

“Is there really any good reason why, just because iTunes exists in the wild west internet land of Facebook and Twitter, it can’t provide some aspect of these services to the artists whose work it bleeds like a digital vampire, like a digital Northern Rock, for its enormous commission?” he asked. He contiuned on to say Apple should employ 20 talent scouts “from the dying record business” to give guidance to new acts and provide financial and marketing support to the best ones.

The reality, without Steve Jobs, Apple is becoming nothing more than a retail franchise. Apple spent $614 million on retail stores and the other $4 billion on other capital expenditures — including purchasing land for its new office in Cupertino, Calif. Apple is filthy rich; it sold four million phones in three days. But Apple why is spending only 2.2% of revenue on Research and Development (R&D)? Because it is not a creative company and nothing more than a legal Peer to Peer company. (read more . . .)
