In a couple of weeks, same-sex couples in Wisconsin will be allowed to declare domestic partnerships and take advantage of some of the rights and benefits extended to married couples.

County clerks around the state are preparing to accept domestic partnership declaration applications starting Aug. 3.

The Domestic Partnership Law was included in the 2009-2010 state budget signed by Gov. Jim Doyle June 29. The budget also includes domestic partner benefits for state employees.

The application process will be similar to applying for a marriage license. At least one of the applicants must have lived in the county for 30 days or longer, both must be of the same sex and at least 18, neither may be married or in another domestic partnership, the two must share a residence and they must not be nearer of kin that second cousins.

“One rotten apple spoils the whole barrel”

The whole reason many flocked to the “New World” was due to the constant rule of religion from a political figure. England’s Henry VIII made himself the head of “Church of England”, his daughter “Bloody Mary” was burning anyone who wasn’t Catholic and even 6 protestants were beheaded during Queen Elizabeth reign.  Wouldn’t you take your family and take chances on a new life?

Now the United States has allowed religious values to influence politics and now “proof is in the pudding” with the Mormons and California’s Proposition 8.  The Mormon church has made a decision to ignore the homeless, sick, poor, hungry and invest billions into politics.

With the passing of Proposition 8 it show the power of a Religious organization.  What a difference could be made to locals who are about to loose their homes, provide for higher education to the poor families, or even build homes for those in Katrina (many living still in substandard housing). But the effect is not just on the needy, now Mormons are under investigation (read more . . .).

Californiaâ’s fair-elections commission is investigating a complaint against the Mormon Churchâ’s role in campaigning for Proposition 8, which made marriage illegal between people of the same sex.

What does a legal marriage have anything to do with a religious ceremony?

England (Great Britain) has outgrown and eliminated the bond of politics and religion.   Getting married is a civil union, to have a church ceremony has nothing to do with federal information.   If you want a wedding in a church . . . go ahead.  But unless you have a civil ceremony in front of a magistrate, you are not married (legally).

That is what the United States needs, a removal of religion responsibility from a legal documentation. Currently all marriage licenses are civil unions.  There isn’t anything different between the two, except the United States decided to make a personal label (marriage) a legal definition and gave churches legal authority over completing the civil union paperwork. Two of the major ways to make sure your civil union paperwork is completed is down at city hall or in a church.  But you can’t just walk into a church, you have to a religious ceremony called a wedding.

What will be the next logical step?  It is time the United States stop all civil union paperwork . . . going into the hands of the church.  If you want a wedding, have one.  If you want to a legal marriage, go to city hall.

The study examines the link between sex and mental health â’“ found that undesirable gay men face stigmatization, avoidance and outright rejection, which can lead to depression, anxiety and alcohol abuse. It also highlighted cases whereby undesirable gay men will forgo safe-sex discussion and, in some cases, condom use, in the context of sex with a more attractive partner.

â’We tend to devalue sexual life as something that is extracurricular and frivolous, but this research shows a significant link between sexual desirability and health,â’ says Green. â’Men with low levels of â’˜erotic capitalâ’ are systematically marginalized, which can take a real toll both physically and psychologically.â’

Personal Note

This study deserves a duh!   Everyone knows that those who have a lower self esteem  . . . tend to do anything to please the other.    I remember having this same conversation with a friend questioning (over nine years ago) sexuality and self esteems. We not only discussed the number of gay individuals trying to live hetrosexual lives and the number of straight individuals who are trying to live homo/bi sexual lives.

My friend said, “There are people that are too ugly that the only way they get sex is to do anything. Even go gay for a lay.”

How mental stability always goes into question and the direct link to their choices.  The basic need to be love and to be wanted has not only hindered their decision making process but leads lives that are just lies.  There too many people who are living unhappy lives.

If you are unhappy, make the appropriate change and learn that it is ok to be alone for the right reasons.

Personal Thoughts

It takes heterosexuals to only think about sex and the only solution about marriage is more f*cking.  Forget talking, stronger communication, spending time together in an activity, or even bowling.  All those emotional connections that help build a stronger sex life . . . foolish. Just f*ck?

If you think for one moment that your marriage will be better with more sex … you are foolish.

Sex is important.  That is what defines the difference between friendship and lovers.  Sex is NOT the bond that holds a marriage together if it did then explain the bond of those marriages (for medical reasons or other reasons) that have limited sex?  Can it be an emotional commitment?  Can is be more that a fancy of a 14 year old mistaking love for affection?  When we are young we do not know the difference between love, hormones and affection.  That is why when we were young simply hand holding accelerated our heartbeats and now as adults it is a flattering form of affection.  We grow older understanding the difference. Doesn’t maturity define love and commitment beyond f*cking?  I believe it does.

Marriage and Commitment is more than procreation and sex. It is a bond that can be broken even in a sexually active marriage.  A bond called love.

That is why religious zealots, like Mr. Young and his followers, will never understand the true meaning of love between two committed same-sex partners.  It is the evangelical “christian” who are obsessed with sex, who is having it, how, when and with whom.  For evangelical “christians” it is all about sex.

Maybe that is why I see so many unhappy married “christian” woman . . . pity them, I do.
