Comic Critique Saturday :: Aliens #1

Comic Critique Saturday :: Aliens #1

Dark Horse rides again!  In a previous post I suggested reading the new Dark Horse comic, Aliens #1. This is the first act in the relaunch of all three classic Dark Horse/Fox comics series. The release of Aliens #1 will coincide with the thirtieth anniversary of the Ridley Scott-helmed film masterpiece, Aliens. Departs from the original formula by not revealing origins until the last quarter of the movie. Nemesis Unlike most superhero movies there is not conventional nemesis. The convention is filled by a disgruntle but...

Comic Critique Saturday: Marvel 1602

Ever wonder what it was like in the past for super heroes? The graphic novel Marvel 1602 goes back in history with Queen Elizabeth, the Inquisition, Spain’s utmost jealousy and the mixing of political decisions with mysticism. It answers the simple question What if… “All’s not well in the year 1602 as strange storms are brewing and strange new powers are emerging! 1602 features both historical figures and many of the original Marvel superheroes and villains. Spider-Man, the X-Men, Nick Fury, Dr. Strange, Daredevil, Dr. Doom, Black Widow, Captain America, and more appear in the waning days of the...
