Alternative Lifestyle

Alternative Lifestyle

Gas prices are getting higher, but that is in par with the rest of the world. Alternative fuels have been on the back burner way too long. I actually worked (1 year for the resume) with a ‘Hill’ lobby information mediation group back in ’96. California has always been on the cusp of alterative fuels, and the rest of the Nation has only known what is “in their back yard” and not willing to purchase outside the norms. Now, this “keep up the Jones” has come to bite our royal arses. Here is the big problem, we are a...

Movies on Demand . . .

Movies on Demand . . .

Giving up cable (since January 2008) and exclusively getting content online, DVD or via Netflix has not been such a bad deal. The only shows we miss are shown exclusively on The Food Network and G4, boy do I miss “Ninja Warrior”, “Attack of the Show” and “Iron Chef America”. There is no hiding it, I love Netflix. But, the “Watch Instantly” option is limited only to a PC with IE browser. But now for $109.00 (including ground shipping) anyone can watch Netflix content without a PC with the new Roku Netflix Player! Here are some great things about...

Sad Day in US History

Sad Day in US History

Not the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post nor the New York Times . . . No, USA Today remains the most widely read newspaper in the United States, according to the latest Mediamark Research Inc. report. USA Today has more than 3.6 million readers daily. The interesting thing about the publishing of the USA Today, the paper does not print on Saturdays and Sundays. . . . nothing beats a Sunday paper, a cup of coffee, bagel with cream cheese and fighting to see who gets the comics first . . .

But as a programmer I need to have all resources available to meet my client needs, no matter the code. The most important tool for a web developer is the web server. But I want to cut the chains of any OS dependent, including Linux, Apple and especially Microsoft. What I am looking for in a web server: Easy install Programming for everything under the sun ASP ASP.NET PHP Ruby on Rails Hosting multiple sites Easy set up Quick easy start...

Same Sex Marriage

During an acceptance speech at a Los Angeles film gala in December 2007 the two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster spoke about her parter of 14 years Ms Cydney Bernard, calling her: “My beautiful Cydney, who sticks with me through the rotten and the bliss.” Yes, if you have been hiding under a rock, Jodie Foster has long been an individual living comfortable in the “Glass Closet â’I think there are four kinds of gays in Hollywood,â’ explains Howard Bragman, CEO of the PR firm Fifteen Minutes. â’Thereâ’s the openly gay; the gay and everybody knows it but nobody talks...

NFL Need to Make Changes

NFL Need to Make Changes

The NFL has changed for the worst. I am not talking about the poor attempt for extreme drunk fans with the XFL or the poor marketing attempt of the USFL. I am talking about this short lived World League of American Football (WLAF) and NFL Europa. These were supposed to be the equivalent of MLB minor leagues to develop on demand players for the NFL. But it failed. So, the NFL returns their watchful eye to the collegiate athlete. But there is a problem using the NCAA as their personal “minor league”. This is a plea for the NFL...

Hypocrisy Election 2008

Hypocrisy Election 2008

This general election more than most will test the courage of voters to avoid lesser-evil strategic voting that has propped up our two-party plutocracy. People with intelligence and conscience must resist peer pressure and the temptation to vote against John McCain by voting for Barack Obama. (Read More . . .) It is all about money. The Right and Left only go with the money and make the platform irrelevant. The Democrats and Republicans both want the same thing, a blind vote for their presidential candidate. Yet, when I try to make a stand for a more suitable candidate...

Comic Critique Saturday: The Absolute Sandman

“The Absolute Sandman” is an introduction to The Sandman from Neil Gaiman. Vertigo proudly re-presents the classic debut issue of “the Sandman”. Also included in an exclusive bonus material and an introduction by Neil Gaiman discussing his thought process in how and why bring back “The Sandman”. One of the tricky thing, as we have seen in other media, how to continue the story line with a gap of years, decades and even generations. Unlike Dallas’ shower scene to cheat viewers of creativity to smoke screen the past events as ‘just a dream’. Neil Gaiman took some great thought...
