Lesbian Couple Saved Up To 40 During Norway’s Terrorism Attack

July 26, 2011

Hege Dalen and Toril Hansen

As Norway mourns the dead from the this weekend’s terrorist attacks, stories of heroism have begun to filter out. For Hege Dalen and her partner Toril Hansen, that day was a day that they sprung into action to help those who were being attacked.

The two women were eating supper in the camping area opposite Utoya Island, and that is when they heard gunshots and people screaming.Rather than waiting, the two drove their boat to the island and took people out of the water. They took those who were in shock and who were injured in the water that they transported them to shore.

They made four trips to the island and may have saved as many as forty people.

There were several times where bullets nearly struck their boat or them, and they really did risk their lives to save others.
