Buffy the Vampire Slayer Tales of the Vampires #1

Written by Becky Cloonan
Art by Vasilis Lolos and Dave Stewart
Cover #1A by Jo Chen
Cover #1B by Gabriel Bá and Fábio Moon

We know all about the slayers via “Tales of the Slayers” now it is time to focus on the dark side.  Some of my favorite episodes of  the “Buffy” television series was the flashback, history and the story associated with the vampires. Now it’s a nice break in ‘Season 8′ to focust our attention on vampires.

It all takes place in a a small town in Massachusetts, a young man named Jacob goes about his day as usual-wakes early, eats breakfast with his mom, and heads to school. He’s a hard worker and a reliable friend to Alexia, an athletic and headstrong young woman.

But at night Jacob likes to wastes his quarters at the local arcade, where he’s befriended a reckless gang of vampires who enjoy drinking his blood.

Jacob craves the high and the easy escape from the monotony of his life that this ‘bloodletting’ provides. Enter the mysterious and sultry vamp May, who can help Jacob leave those high-school days behind.

Alexia is also a Slayer who hates the burden of being a Slayer.  She tries so hard to live a normal life, but just like all Slayers she is a vampire magnet.

As all great Whedon stories go, you can’t predict the storyline . . . even in comic book form.
