New Napster :: Unlimited Monthly Music – iTunes Killer??

May 18, 2009

Napster, LLCNapster services offers the best music experience, allowing users to discover, share, acquire and enjoy music – anytime, anywhere. Here are the latest features and benefits of using our service:

  • Unlimited Music on Demand – 7 Day Free Trial
  • Play all the music you want
  • Choose from millions of songs
  • Access your music on the Web
  • Find your favorite music fast
  • Browse new releases, charts, and recommendations
  • Listen for hours with one click on radio or automix
  • High-quality MP3 downloads available

With iTunes pay-per-song ($.69-$1.29 scale) you are NOT getting the best deal for your money.  With this new monthly unlimited music it makes it easier to enjoy music on all your mobile devices.

This relaunch of Napster could redefine how iTunes limites user pay-per-song.  With new reports that the iPhone is NOT the hotest selling smartphone (AP News . . .) will this affect iTunes monopoly?

Napster is preparing for the long haul, if you look at their employment opportunities -  there is a strong concentration on the mobile market.

Other Options

If you are not quite sure you want to pay $12.95 per month, there are two options:

Free Napster ::  A unique Web experience offering free on demand music legally;

$5 Monthly :: Users can download and keep any five DRM-free MP3 tracks from Napster’s catalog of more than seven million songs. So far, no big deal; that’s the same as what Apple charges for many DRM-free AAC files, and slightly more than many singles from Amazon MP3.

Napster, LLC

Bottom Line

If you love music . . . which would you choose?  Unlimited or pay-for-song? I think it is time to take another look at Napster?

This is nothing new. I’ve had Napster mobile for years. I’ve downloaded lots of songs.
