“Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.”
Psalm 127
The Quiverfull movement looks to the bible for permission to breed like dogs and believe that God will take responsibility for their birth control. The children are just pawns.
“The womb is such a powerful weapon; it’s a weapon against the enemy,” says Nancy Campbell, a leader of the Quiverfull movement and author of Be Fruitful and Multiply.
Basically the Quiverfull movement is not only taking responsibility to over populate the earth but as Campbell puts it “If believers don’t starting reproducing in large numbers, biblical Christianity will lose its voice”.
Campbell says, “We look across the Islamic world and we see that they are outnumbering us in their family size, and they are in many places and many countries taking over those nations, without a jihad, just by multiplication.”
The average family at their evangelical church has 8.5 kids. They are children who, they hope, will spread the message of Christ.
Wow, scary! Using children as a pawn in getting God’s attention and as walking religious propaganda.Doesn’t sound at all like KKK, another Christian movement.

Personal Thoughts
- Why not adopt children that need homes?
- Spending $1000+ a month is greedy, or did I miss something?
- Isn’t gluttony a sin? So, tell me why are the women, some of the children and most of the men fat?
- Procreation a weapon against what? The ignorant seem to be procreating while those who are educated are managing their lives, families and budget within a reasonable fashion.
- With each new Quiverfull child the IQ average of the United States goes down.
- These are not Christians but sheep in wolves clothing. Hiding behind the bible allowing themselves to be irresponsible.
- These Quiverfull are dangerous to ignore your global impact because the ‘rapture’ will come any day. Forget about being a good citizen and think only about yourself, that is not christian.
- Don’t you feel sorry for the women? In the case of the Duggar family (pictured bottom) the mother displays immaturity and lacks reality. Watching her on television I see a woman either with a low IQ or socially stunted.
- There should not be a tax deduction after the first two children. With each deduction (child) the United States gives money via tax deduction. Making only 50K a year is easy when you get 2,500 for each child at the end of the year. Average 8.5 children = 21,250 tax break every year. Is that fair?
- The US should tax every family after the first two children.
- This Quiverfull Movement is living off the government either via tax deductions or assistance from others. How is that different from a family living off welfare? The only difference is the family on welfare aren’t using government’s money for religious promotion.

God bless those Quiverfull families. The country would be a much better place if there 1 million such families. I find it amazing that there is no outrage when welfare recipients and immigrants have large families, but when conservatives and Christians have large families, that is seen as a threat. After reading about the movement, that inspired us to have a large family. Get a life liberals, your movement has no past and no future.
Quiverful families are nothing more that a burden on the earth, the Duggars specifically. For example, there is no victory garden with the Duggars. You might say big deal. But the amount of garbage they produce from all their processed food and canned goods, have you see their pantry — filled with crap. That is not healthy food. I guess if live your life by a doctrine that basically believes that you can do what ever you want without consequence. Forget about the amount of water your use, forget about the amount of trash, forget about the amount of energy you use . . . because it is selfish and without a doubt terrible example of good citizenship.
Only in the United States are freak families like Octomom and Duggars are media worshiped. Large families used to be about being productive and an asset to the living situation. To have more hands on the farm to produce food or more contributing to the economic stability of the entire family. Case in point, The Waltons – a true family based on based on Earl Hamner’s family from hometown of Schuyler, Virginia. It is about being productive part of the family, responsible for replenishing earth natural resources and not just leaches off the land like grasshoppers on a corn field.
The world is becoming healthier and healthier. Which means over 98% of all births actually reach adulthood. Unlike generations ago it was a worker replacement issue if Timmy died there was always Clive to take his place on the farm.
It was always about being self sufficient and agriculture and the simple math of more children = more income for the family.
Technology has changed everything. Better seeds, computers and loosing land mass to large corporations has kicked the families of the US onto small lots, townhomes or inner cities for cubical living. There is no need to for large families. There is actually no reason to have large family, any more. It is about believing in responsible reproduction. Only in the US is it glorified or a media friendly to have a freak family over 5 children.
You are wrong about those not outraged against large families within the welfare system. Many states have taken that under control. A good example would be under Governor Whitman (a woman) New Jersey has set new standards to welfare with \”Work First\” policy, individual must make co-payments involved in any subsidy, and a family-cap policy (which cuts off extra cash benefits to welfare recipients who have more children).
Using your own arguments that Christian large families are an asset to the country. I disagree, large families (over 3 three children) is a selfish and anti-Christian thing to do. It is only in the US that we drive huge gas guzzling cars and believe that bigger is better. It is selfish and un-christian like to produce more children when the rest of the world are taking a stance on global on global rates.
You only need two (2) children to replace the parents, add each additional child the population goes into a higher growth. So you want 1 million Quiverful families that means that a family size of 18 children (16 children over the 2 needed) would be a growth rate of 16,000,000 people per generation, with each following generation multiplying by 16. Within two generations there would be over 4 Billion people in the United States within Quiverful families. There is only a 308 million in the United States now. That would be ridiculous.
The problem is that the Quiverfull familes are not having large families because of welfare benefits but because of a self promoted doctrine. Psalm 127:3-5 is about being proud with a large family. Yes, it WAS (repeating WAS) a great thing to have a large family — because little Johnny was working in the fields. Sons produced larger armies and large families benefited with a higher survival rate.
But, as Christians the foundation is belief of Jesus Christ dying for salvation. Jesus brought a new covenant which was ratified through the blood of Jesus Christ. Not only did his death pay for our sins, it also ended the old covenant and began the new.
Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. Does that mean I can go into Canada or Mexico?
Exodus 21:7 allows for financial hurting families to see their daughter into slavery. What is the process and pricing?
Exodus 35:2 has a death penalty for anyone working on the Sabbath. Who do we contact to report infractions?
Lev. 11:10 makes eating any water source food without fins and scales is considered an abomination. Have you ever Clams, oysters, crabs, lobsters, calamari or shrimp? You are equal to anyone who is homosexual.
Need I go on? The Old Testament is full of rules that must be followed for this was the requirement of the Old Covenant. Jesus replaced the old laws and became the New Covenant with his blood. So we can eat shrimp; marry someone who was divorced or widowed (Leviticus 21:14); God will accept us with our poor eye sight and handicapped individuals (Leviticus 21:18); . . . and it ends the need to reproduce like animals.
You need to read A.J. Jacob’s Book “The Year of Living Biblically: One Man’s Humble Quest to Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible” (http://tinyurl.com/living-bible). You will find that it is impossible to live Biblically. Do you wear clothes of mixed fibers (polyester blend or a small percentage of cotton). You are not allowed to shave your beard, are you clean shaved? Stoned any adulterers lately?
Are you prepared to stand the rest of your life? Sit in a chair where women during their ‘time of the month’ sat. (“And everything upon which she lies during her impurity shall be unclean; everything also upon which she sits shall be unclean.” Leviticus 15:20). Since every subway, stadium and restaurant seat is no doubt impure you are standing or carrying around a chair for the rest of your life.
So, if you are going follow This Quiverfull Movement and biblical values — don’t be so selective on the rules your wish to follow – follow them all. Be a good biblical person and live biblically. Totally ignore the fact the Jesus died so you don’t have to over populate the earth or stand the rest of your natural born life. Jesus died for people to be good citizens of the world and take responsible actions and to think globally – to be “salt of the earth” (Matthew 5:13). To be a compliment to the earth and it’s inhabitants not a selfish hoarder of goods. This Quiverfull Movement is NOT being “salt of the earth” but rather participant to encourage poor citizenship and ignoring Jesus’ sacrifice.
