Browser Wars :: Pick a Side
Apple released a public beta of its Safari 4 Web browser, claiming that it’s “the world’s fastest and most innovative browser.”  Apple also claims that its new Nitro JavaScript engine runs JavaScript up to 30 times faster than Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) and more than three times faster than Firefox 3. It also claims that Safari 4 loads Web pages three times faster than IE7 and almost three times faster than Firefox 3.
Claims Fall Short
- How fast a browser loads a page depends on your system configuration, network connection, and other factors
- You can download Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) now.
- More options other than Firefox or IE. Â What about Opera? Flock? Maxthon? What about Google’s own Chrome?
- Technology changes what is the best this week will be the last next month. Â It is ever changing. Â
- Size is a huge factor, the Safari 4 is 18.4 mg  . . . that is allot of space.
Why a Browser War?
There isn’t any money in actually in developing browsers, year ago you had to pay for the latest download.  Now you can get any browser for free.  So, where is the money?  Profit making in browsers come from coding agreements, for example; Mozilla (Firefox) earned  $66 million in 2007 from its Firefox search deal with Google.
Which Browser is Best?
- That all depends on who you are?  Do you like to add all those pesky toolbars?  Then it doesn’t matter?
- Do you like to tweak your broswer for your personal and professional needs? Â Firefox
- Do you have a Wii?  You have no choice but Opera.
- Do you have linux? Firefox
- Are you a tween who loves to social network? Flock
- Are you a Google lover? Chrome
Make your own decision . . . go through ‘em all!
