When Temple University Political Science Professor Gary Mucciaroni looked across the spectrum of gay rights issues, he saw a puzzle: Why have gays and lesbians been so successful in achieving some of their goals and not others?
He contends that rather than following a traditional civil rights path, LBGT rights groups may be more successful if they work through more democratic arenas by personalizing their stories and reaching out to fellow citizens. Said Mucciaroni, â’Pursuit of change through the courts can short circuit necessary conversation and understanding that needs to be cultivated in this area.â’
â’Gays should emphasize the argument that society, not just gays, benefit from same-sex marriage. Stabilizing gay relationships through partner recognition may allow those individuals to contribute to society in many more productive and meaningful ways,â’ he said.
Personal Opinion
The GLBT community, lobby groups, social groups, political groups and all other GLBT positive action groups have “emphasize the argument that society [and United States], not just gays, benefit from same-sex marriage”. The advanced countries that have marriage have proven to be strong examples of equality and educated society to which the United States should subscribe. The problem is that basically this . . .
- Voting for or against any civil rights for individuals, sub culture or class is meaningless and inaccurately fortifies a aristocratic nation.
- This is not a social, medical or religious issue; it is exclusively a political issue. It is not for the churches, personal opinions or any organization to push influence political. The simple questions needs to be asked:
Why define marriage as between a man and a woman?
- It is not traditional to have one man and one woman in a marriage arrangement.
- Why does the United State citizen want to hold exclusive rights to a social institution of marriage? The United States is a very young country and is acting like a spoiled child.
- Marriage’s sole purpose is not to procreate.
- In the United States, freedom of religion is a constitutionally guaranteed right provided in the religion clauses of the First Amendment. Biblical values should have no influence on political matters.
Throughout United States there are many different types of marriages. Many marriages go undetected due to the ability to live in the United States undetected and possibly off-the-grid. It is a fact that in the United States allows for many different types of marriages. The federal government has ‘looked the other way’ including Celestial, Common-law, Forced, Polyandry, Polygamy, Under-age and Polygyny marriages in accepting cultural differences.
In the Washington DC, Minneapolis and Utah area there are countless marriages that are Polygyny and/or Polygamy (mainly with the middle eastern communities). These families, at least the ones I am familiar with, are of average salary but nowhere near meeting the monitary needs of the entire family. The dependency on federal programs like welfare, medicad and disability become a natural process of planning polymorphic marriages.
Traditionally Muslims, Mormons and just about all major religions (including Christianity) has some form of marriage that is not exclusive to one man and one woman.
To protect “traditional marriage” is supporting Polygamy and all marriages that are not of one man and one woman!

The bottom line
If California wants to make marriage exclusively one man and one woman then :
- Divorce should be illegal
- No recongize any divorce outside of California
- All Marriage paperwork, certificates should be under the control of the state. Only the state can issue and officiate marriage license.
- Any ceremony (religious or not religious) has no legal baring on registration, certificates or license and religious authority is banned from signing legal documentation concerning marriage, divorce or separations. It is now exclusively a matter of state.
That would certainly make a statement about marriage.
