A new research study has found that youths with minimal exposure to violence in movies, television, music, games and Web sites are significantly less likely to report violent and aggressive behaviors than those exposed to more violent media.
Researchers found that youths reporting that â’none or almost noneâ’ of the media they consume depicts violence were 85 percent less likely to report seriously violent behavior than youth exposed to more violent media; youth reporting â’someâ’ violent media were 50 percent less likely. The results were similar for bullying behavior and fighting as well.
â’Our findings suggest that a reduction of violent media consumption for children and adolescents to â’˜almost none or noneâ’ may decrease bullying and fighting behavior among youth,â’ said Michele Ybarra, MPH, PhD, lead researcher on the study.
Problem with the Study
The study doesn’t take the whole world into consideration. The Japan gaming and film industry is much more violent than anything in the United States, but the culture isn’t nearly violent as the United States. The United Kingdom films have altertive softer endings to violent movies exclusively for the United States and the crime rate in the United States surpasses by millions!
Total crimes (most recent) by Country
- United States: 11,877,218
- United Kingdom: 6,523,706
- Germany: 6,507,394
- France: 3,771,850
- Russia: 2,952,370
- Japan: 2,853,739
- South Africa: 2,683,849
- Canada: 2,516,918
- Italy: 2,231,550
- India: 1,764,630
What other factors could affect United States Violence?
- United States government promotes violence it invades countries, start wars and recruit via commercials.
- 12% of the population are living below the poverty level . . . 36 million people.
- 8% of the population consider themselves very unhappy . . . 24 million people.
- Political probaganda constantly reports that the United States is a “christian nation” but the reality is that the actual data is this:
| Religion | United States |
| Percent Religious | 50.03% |
| Catholic | 21.92% |
| Protestant | 19.12% |
| LDS | 1.57% |
| Baptist | 8.16% |
| Episcopalian | 8.12% |
| Pentecostal | 1.89% |
| Lutheran | 2.81% |
| Methodist | 3.84% |
| Presbyterian | 1.33% |
| Other Christian | 4.66% |
| Jewish | 2.16% |
| Eastern | 0.05% |
| Islam | 0.54% |
- The United States is alienating a percentage of its own population by ignoring and those who are either of non-christian religion or of no religion. The religious extremist of the US are, just like all extremists, want to dictate and convert a people’s government into a theocracy. Religous extremists are all the same, no matter the country.
- The United States invades countries, bride, create sanctions and other political actions to convert other countries into “mini United States”. These actions are basically in the name of a “christian nation”, which means all these actions are “holy”. This concept is not a good idea when invading other countries with stronger religous ties like Iran or Iraq. In fact, some may consider it barbaric.
What Causes Violence?
- A person has been hurt.
- Unable to release the emotions resulting from being hurt.
Survey Fails to Ask
Here are some questions that the Survey needed to be asked
- How many hours a day includes playing video games, watching movies or other non-social activities and where are the parent/gardian during these hours?
- Are the parent/guardian alcoholoic, drug user, aggressive, physically abusive, emotionally abusive or emotionally distant?
- Are the parents alive? If so, are they involved in the youth’s life? If so, how much?
- Where is the youth living? Is the area considered a high violent area?
